About this event

TEDxHorwich is a licensed and independently organised TED event in Bolton, Greater Manchester that strives to re-create the unique experience found at TED where the world's leading thinkers and doers come together to share what they are most passionate about. At its core, the fundamental goal of TED and TEDxHorwich is to foster and spread great ideas. We aim to provide a platform where the smartest thinkers, greatest visionaries and most fascinating speakers will be inspired and have the opportunity to inspire others.

TED itself is a non-profit organisation over 30 years old, devoted to Ideas Worth Spreading, usually in the form of short, powerful talks (18 minutes or fewer). The diverse audience of CEO's, scientists, creative minds and philanthropists is as extraordinary as the speakers themselves, who have included Bill Gates, Jane Goodall, Sir Richard Branson, Jimmy Carter, Bono, Professor Brian Cox and hundreds of others.

TEDx events are fully planned & coordinated independently, on a community-by-community basis. The content & design of each TEDx event is unique & developed independently but all of them have features in common & governed by rules & regulations stipulated by TED.

The Venue

For TEDxHorwich 2020, we have secured the perfect venue of Bolton Museum & Library, a grade II listed building next to the Town Hall.

Bolton Museum & Library is located in Bolton, a town in Greater Manchester, North West England. Bolton is a former mill town with a largely industrial background. Like most northern towns in the UK, it features a wide cross-section of different industries, religious faiths and people from different social and economic backgrounds. This diversity is what makes Bolton great!
